The Lord’s Prayer
Give Them & Forgive Them
Matthew 6:11-12
Matthew 6:11-12 (CEB)
11 Give us the bread we need for today.
12 Forgive us for the ways we have wronged you,
just as we also forgive those who have wronged us.
(Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. — The MESSAGE)
Give Us (v11)
Proverbs 30:8
"Don’t give me either poverty or wealth; give me just the food I need. Or I’ll be full and deny you, and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or I’ll be poor and steal, and dishonor my God’s name."
Deuteronomy 8:2-3,19-20
“2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
19 If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the nations the Lord destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the Lord your God.
Forgive us (v12, 14-15)
Forgiven People, Forgive People
When we forgive others, we are releasing them from their debt owed to us, and freeing ourselves
